Protecting Students. Protecting Rights. Pursuing Change.

Education is a civil right.

Wolpert, Vernon & Gordon represents students, families, and individuals in complex disputes involving schools, school districts, educational institutions, and other organizations responsible for serving children.

Our attorneys have extensive experience handling education law and civil rights matters at every stage – from initial investigation and advocacy through administrative proceedings, litigation, settlement, and appeal. We take on cases involving the denial of educational rights, discrimination, harassment, bullying, abuse, and other institutional failures that can have lasting consequences for students and their families.

We understand that families often face a significant imbalance when challenging a school or school district. Educational institutions have administrators, counsel, policies, procedures, and substantial resources behind them. Families should not have to navigate that system alone.

We bring the experience and preparation necessary to understand complex educational records, identify legal and procedural violations, develop the factual record, and pursue meaningful remedies. When a matter requires litigation, we are prepared to litigate. When a resolution can best serve the student or family, we pursue it from a position of strength.

Our work is not limited to addressing what has already happened. When institutional policies, practices, or failures contribute to the harm, we seek remedies that protect our clients and, when possible, help prevent the same problems from happening again.

Our Education & Civil Rights Practice

Special Education Law

We represent students and families in disputes involving special education services, eligibility, evaluations, IEPs, placements, related services, discipline, compensatory education, and the right to a free appropriate public education.

Civil Rights & Discrimination

We represent students and individuals whose rights have been violated through discrimination, unequal treatment, disability-based discrimination, retaliation, or other unlawful conduct by educational institutions.

School Bullying & Harassment

We represent students and families when bullying, harassment, threats, or other harmful conduct is ignored, inadequately addressed, or permitted to continue by a school or educational institution.

Physical & Sexual Assault

We represent students and families in matters involving physical or sexual assault occurring in connection with schools or educational institutions, including cases involving institutional failures to protect students or appropriately respond to reported misconduct.

When Schools Fail Their Students

Schools have a responsibility to educate and protect the students in their care. When they fail to meet that responsibility, families need experienced counsel who understands the system, knows how to build a case, and is willing to challenge an institution when necessary.

We represent our clients with the goal of protecting their rights, securing meaningful remedies, and holding institutions and individuals accountable when they fail the students and families they serve.
